The majority of America’s 20,000-plus chimney fires each year are caused by built-up creosote that ignites inside the flue.  The Chimney Safety Institute of America, which certifies our chimney sweep technicians, recommends that all chimneys connected to wood-burning fireplaces be inspected and cleaned once a year.

Fireplaces and chimneys should be inspected and cleaned at least once a year. The purpose of Chimney cleaning removes creosote. Creosote is a product of burning wood and is deposed on the walls of the chimney flue. Big creosote deposition may lead to a reduced draft, unpleasant odor coming from the fireplace, damage to flue liner, and chimney fires. To ensure safe operation and prevent further deterioration chimneys should be cleaned at least every year. This helps to prevent chimney fires, carbon monoxide leaks, and other hazards.

A chimney in good working order does its job safely and efficiently.  A chimney packed with flammable creosote can be the source of a catastrophic house fire.

Creosote buildup and animal infestations are common causes of ventilation problems, and a chimney cleaning will eliminate these issues and increase the efficiency of your heating system, prevent fire hazards and keep you safe.

Our Step By step chimney cleaning process

  • The first step in the chimney cleaning process is an inspection

  • Second step of the chimney cleaning process - protection

We protect both your home interior and the work environment.

Frequently asked questions

Q. Will cleaning my chimney get dust all over my house?

A. Absolutely Not! We contain the mess by means of proper-sized brushes and rods, tarps and a heavy-duty vacuum system designed specifically for dust control. As long-standing professionals in this community, we take pride in our service and our impeccable reputation.

Q. How often should I have my chimney cleaned?

A. The Chimney Safety Institute of America recommends that you have your chimney inspected every year and cleaned as needed. Even if a chimney is rarely used or exhausts a clean burning natural gas appliance, it could be blocked with an animal nest or the structure could have deteriorated to the point where the chimney is unsafe to use.

Gas burning device chimneys should be inspected every year.

Oil furnace chimneys should be inspected annually and cleaned as needed.

Wood burning fireplaces should be inspected annually and cleaned as needed.

Woodstoves are typically used more frequently than fireplaces. Many woodstove chimneys actually require cleaning twice a year.

Q. Should I cover my furniture and rugs?

A. There’s really no need for you to cover anything. We take special precautions to make sure soot will not damage your valuable home furnishings. These steps include everything from spreading plenty of clean drop cloths to using only true HEPA rated vacuums.

Q. What makes my fireplace stink in the summer?

A. The sour wood smoke odor you smell is creosote inside a dirty chimney reacting with hot, humid summer air or rain entering the chimney. The best way to eliminate this odor is to clean the chimney to remove the creosote. Installing a chimney cap to deflect rain may also be required.

Q. Do I need to service a chimney with a gas logs?

A. Yes, gas logs also give off a carbon soot that can collect on the logs, safety controls, and the flue. The CSIA and NFPA associations recommend these units be inspected and serviced annually.

Q. Does the chimney sweeping log work?

A. The question is do you rinse your teeth with mouthwash or do you actually brush your teeth. And even if you brush, do you still go to the dentist to have a checkup. A chimney sweep will check your fireplace system and also complete the brushing that the chimney sweeping log cannot do.

Q. How long will it take for my chimney to be cleaned?

A. The chimney sweep can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours.

Chimney sweeping is an affordable and important part of maintenance that will keep you safe.
